LOS ANGELES, CA - SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 - Located in Fayette County, Georgia, Camp Southern Ground is a passion project of Grammy award-winning artist Zac Brown. His vision is to create a facility that promotes learning and personal growth in children, particularly those with disabilities. The campground features a state-of-the-art dining hall, music center, learning stations, organic farm, and an adventure center for physical activity. The latest addition is a 1,300-square-foot treehouse that serves as a recreational space for kids to enjoy. Accessibility was one of the most important considerations in the treehouse’s design. It was also important for the treehouse to have a strong connection to the outdoors. To help achieve this, the treehouse utilizes C.R. Laurence’s S80 Series Monterey™ Bi-Folding Glass Wall System. Installed by Georgia-based Omni Glass, the Monterey™ Glass Wall System features top-hung sliding glass doors that are precision engineered to slide with minimal effort. The doors fold and stack to the side to open up views and produce a seamless transition to the outdoors. Monterey™ provides wide entrance spans and flush thresholds to allow children with disabilities to easily enter and exit the treehouse. This complements the over 200 feet of ADA-approved ramps leading up to the treehouse. In a previous interview, Zac Brown said he desired “an elastic space that can be used during camp, and as a year-round think tank for developing and growing the absolute best programming we can.” When closed, the thermally broken S80 Series Monterey™ System helps provide all-season comfort for children and staff. Its thermal properties are enhanced by incorporating PPG’s Solarban® 60 Low-E glass, which blocks 62 percent of total solar heat while allowing 70 percent of natural light to pass through. A triple seal configuration creates a comprehensive weatherized system that effectively protects against water and air infiltration.
“It was a pleasure being involved in such a heartwarming project,” said Lloyd Talbert, president of C.R. Laurence. “Our Monterey Bi-Folding Glass Wall System offers the functionality and accessibility to meet the needs of the camp children, while satisfying the objectives of the design team. If our products can in any way enhance the camp experience for the kids, I consider it a big win.” About Camp Southern Ground About CRL-U.S. Aluminum Press Contact: |
